The Grapes, Sutton

Commercial to Residential Conversion
Grapes Finished 13.jpg

Located in the centre of Sutton High Street, the former Grapes pub was constructed more than 160 years ago. In 2018, the prominent building was sold to West Wicklow Property which developed plans to convert the three-storey building.

The architectural aim was to upgrade and preserve the existing, unoccupied pub and provide a mix of inner-city homes.

Vale Southern Construction was selected for the contract. The team was already familiar with the site having refurbished the former pub many years ago.

Vale Southern created additional floor space at the side of the property and added a further two floors using a steel frame system. The ground floor was retained and restored for commercial use and the upper floors divided into the mix of apartments.

Internally, the high specification fit out saw Vale Southern install floors, fittings and furnishings as well as a mechanical and electrical package. The open plan kitchen and living areas feature integrated appliances with quartz worktops, and three-piece bathroom suites.

The new development is named Vintner Court and is being marketed by Castlecap Investments.

All living spaces have been designed with clear and logical layouts, meeting the provisions set out in the London Plan.
