Vale Southern Construction has completed a £1.1m project, which has delivered an impressive nine-bedroom home with more than 8,000 sq ft of living space.
Designed in the ‘Arts and Crafts’ style, the new-build property draws influence from ‘The Lutyens Style’, featuring hipped tiled roofs, flat-roofed leaded dormers and porches, vertical tile hanging, brickwork quoins, leaded windows and gable ends.
Vale Southern was responsible for the interior fit out of the country residence, which features a large entrance hall, drawing room, office, living room, dining room, and an open plan kitchen area with living space.
On site for 28 weeks, the team constructed the internal walls, ceilings, flooring, and decorations throughout the property. Bespoke and specialist joinery was carried out as part of the works, including the construction of oak staircases for all three levels. High quality oak flooring also features along with ceramic, porcelain, granite and limestone tiling.
To minimise the property’s environmental impact, two ground-source heat pumps have been fitted as well as underfloor heating, and a ventilation system with heat recovery.
Externally, Vale Southern has delivered significant landscaping improvements, creating formal gardens, a terraced planted border, and planting trees.
Jon James, Contracts Manager at Vale Southern, said: “Another contractor was appointed to complete the foundations and install the below ground drainage, brick and blockwork, roof tiles and some of the internal walls. We were approached by the owner to take over the works after demonstrating our construction expertise at a property located nearby.
“To meet the specific needs of all stakeholders, including the homeowner, architect, interior designer and specialist suppliers, communication was key to the success of the project. Our ability to co-ordinate effectively with all parties and keep them informed, ensured the works were completed on schedule and to the highest standards.”
When visiting the home close to completion, the homeowner said:
Homeowner Michaela Palaniappan added: “Vale are dedicated to quality and they listen and respond to client needs. We built the house as a family so there were multiple decision makers, and we didn't always agree! Vale were patient and constructive in working with us. They go above and beyond in meeting unusual briefs, responding to client requests and providing guidance on how best to manage a new build project in the round.”
The new country home sits on the on the site of the former Hambledon House Hotel. Following a fire that destroyed 90 per cent of the luxury hotel, the 16th-century building was demolished and replaced with the new property.
